Spring League 2025 - Key Expectations
Hoop HQ League Goals - To provide the best learning experience and growth opportunities for our young student players where they can learn in a judgment-free environment.
-
Game Times – 2 halves – DIV 1 (30 mins) & DIV 2 (32 mins), we may extend game times if the team roster size is larger
-
Practice Coaches – no volunteers, all of our coaches are USA Basketball certified
-
Part of the learning process for players is to understand the game standards, rules of substitution, and restricted areas of the game. To help with the process we are encouraging everyone to help with the process.
-
Please No drinks (water ok), snacks, or slurpees on the team bench during the game.
-
Players are NOT allowed to leave the team bench during the game. Half-time is the only exception but still encouraged to return to the team bench ASAP after restroom break.
-
Parents are to be away from the team bench area during the game. The only exception is if a player gets injured parents may approach the bench to be with their student.

Game Sportsmanship & Spectator Sportsmanship
Players
-
As part of learning, players being humble and focused in their learning experience and journey are some of the great values for young developing athletes. The Hoop HQ Team believes the same.
-
Players are always free to ask the referee why a call was made in a specific way to clarify. However, we discourage players from complaining to referees for specific calls due to it being a bad habit.
-
Players are always welcome to speak with the referee during halftime or at the end of the game to bring a recommendation, attention, or notice of specific situations but not during the game. Similarly, most and almost all programs outside of the Hoop HQ definitely will not tolerate these behaviors either. It truly ruins the beautiful game of basketball.
Parents/guardians
-
We greatly appreciate your energy, enthusiasm, passion, and commitment to your students’ learning and development, and the game excitement, focus, and intensity you bring to the game of basketball especially here at the Hoop HQ! It is very fun to be competitive and engaged with everyone in this wonderful community we have here!
-
Please respect our Coaches & Referee
-
Please refrain from coaching your students when the coaches are in a team huddle. Our students can only learn from one teacher at a time. Remember, you have the entire week to work with your student, not to mention Open Gym access. We greatly appreciate your passion but sometimes, it is good to let our young kiddos learn on their own during the intensity of the game how to control their emotions, mind, body, focus, and most importantly communication and teamwork.
-
-
Complaints: Please do not approach the score table(myself), referee, and coaches about any specific complaints during the game. Our team is truly committed to doing their best to help your students learn and grow in the game of basketball.
-
Please let us focus on that. We always try our best to get the right calls and maintain the highest standard of fair play calls for all our players, coaches, and commitment to the program.
-
Parents are always encouraged to speak with our team after the game or before or after practice days. Parents are also welcome to reach out to me.
-
-
Your opinions matter: At the end of each game day. We will be providing a digital submission of your questions, concerns or complaints to be submitted with your feedback for any of the following. Submissions can be anonymous. We will review each item case by case internally with our team and provide a direct response to you or a general overall improvement for the future if we find the situation valid. (A link will be provided on the first day of the game)

-
Consequences: If we find after warnings by the referee have been issued and any of the expectations above have been violated again, a technical foul will be issued to the responding team up to and including ejection from the game if necessary. (2 technical fouls will lead to an automatic ejection) We truly do not wish or want to escalate any situation for the greater benefit of all the participating players’ gameplay and learning experience.
